Who plays the role of Gamora in the MCU? Zoe Saldaña plays Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Gamora first appears in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) as a highly trained assassin who was adopted and raised by Thanos after he destroyed her homeworld. She eventually rebels against him and becomes a founding member of the Guardians, alongside Peter Quill, Rocket, Groot and Drax. Saldaña returned as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

A major MCU complication is that there are two significant versions of the character. The original Gamora dies on Vormir in Infinity War when Thanos sacrifices her for the Soul Stone. A 2014 version then travels to the future during Endgame, survives the final battle and later joins the Ravagers. This alternate Gamora does not share the original's memories or romantic history with Quill.

Saldaña's green makeup was achieved primarily with practical makeup rather than a fully computer-generated performance. Ariana Greenblatt portrays young Gamora in flashbacks.
