Which actor portrays Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, in the MCU?

Jeremy Renner portrays Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Renner first appeared as Barton in a brief cameo in “Thor” (2011), then became a major member of the Avengers in “The Avengers” (2012). Unlike many MCU heroes, Barton has no superhuman powers; he is an elite S.H.I.E.L.D. operative whose defining weapon is his mastery of the bow and trick arrows.

The character’s MCU storyline expands beyond the Hawkeye identity. In “Avengers: Endgame,” Barton operates as the masked vigilante Ronin after losing his family, and the Disney+ series “Hawkeye” explores the consequences of that period while pairing him with aspiring archer Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld.

The wrong options are other major MCU performers: Sebastian Stan plays Bucky Barnes, Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers/Captain America, and Mark Ruffalo plays Bruce Banner/Hulk. Their shared Avengers connections can make the choices seem deceptively interchangeable.
