Chadwick Boseman portrayed T’Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. T’Challa is the prince and later king of Wakanda, as well as the hero known as Black Panther.
Boseman first appeared as T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War, where the character enters the conflict after his father, King T’Chaka, is killed. T’Challa initially seeks revenge against the suspected assassin, but eventually chooses justice over vengeance. His solo film, Black Panther, explores his responsibilities as Wakanda’s ruler and the challenge posed by his cousin Erik Killmonger.
T’Challa gains enhanced physical abilities by consuming the heart-shaped herb, a Wakandan tradition connected to the Black Panther mantle. His suit is made with vibranium and includes retractable claws, combining ceremonial symbolism with advanced technology.
Shuri is T’Challa’s sister, Killmonger is his cousin and rival, and M’Baku is a Wakandan leader from the Jabari tribe. After Boseman’s death in 2020, the MCU did not recast T’Challa; Black Panther: Wakanda Forever instead passes the mantle to Shuri.
