How many Infinity Stones exist in the MCU?
Answer
Six
There are six Infinity Stones in the MCU.
The Stones represent six fundamental aspects of existence: Space, Mind, Reality, Power, Time, and Soul. Together, they form the central artifacts of the MCU's Infinity Saga. Thanos seeks all six so he can use the Infinity Gauntlet to erase half of all life in the universe, an event later known as the Blip.
Each Stone is introduced through a different object or story. The Space Stone is housed in the Tesseract, the Mind Stone appears in Loki's scepter and later Vision, and the Reality Stone is the Aether. The Power Stone is kept in the Orb, the Time Stone is contained in the Eye of Agamotto, and the Soul Stone is hidden on Vormir.
The number six applies to the MCU's main continuity. Marvel Comics has featured additional or alternate gems in some stories, including the Ego Gem, which sometimes causes confusion. Those variations do not change the MCU's canonical count.
