Who wrote the novel adapted into Peter Jackson's 2009 film The Lovely Bones?
Answer
Alice Sebold
Answer
Alice Sebold
Alice Sebold wrote the novel adapted into Peter Jackson's 2009 film The Lovely Bones.
Sebold's novel was published in 2002 and is narrated by Susie Salmon, a teenage girl who observes her family and the world after her murder. The story combines grief, family relationships, crime, and a stylized conception of the afterlife.
Jackson directed and co-wrote the film adaptation with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. Saoirse Ronan played Susie, while Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz portrayed her parents. Stanley Tucci played George Harvey, the killer, and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
The film uses extensive visual effects to represent Susie's perspective beyond death. Although the adaptation retains the central premise and characters, it rearranges and compresses parts of Sebold's novel, as often happens when a literary narrative is transferred to cinema.
