The Prancing Pony is the Bree inn where the hobbits meet Aragorn in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
In The Fellowship of the Ring, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin travel to Bree after leaving the Shire. They stay at the Prancing Pony, where Frodo uses the alias Mr. Underhill. Aragorn, known to the hobbits as Strider, watches over them and offers to guide them toward Rivendell.
The inn is an important turning point because the hobbits first encounter both their mysterious human guide and the danger pursuing them. The Nazgûl attack their rooms later that night, but the beds are empty because Aragorn has moved them to safety.
The Prancing Pony is sometimes confused with the Green Dragon, an inn in Hobbiton that appears earlier in the story. The Green Dragon is associated with the Shire; the Prancing Pony is located in the town of Bree.
