Who won Top Billboard 200 Album at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards?

Taylor Swift won Top Billboard 200 Album at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards for her album 1989.

The award recognized 1989’s performance on the Billboard 200, the U.S. album chart that ranks albums according to measures such as sales, streaming and track-equivalent activity. Released in October 2014, 1989 became Swift’s first official pop album and produced major hits including “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Style.”

Swift dominated the 2015 ceremony, winning eight awards from 14 nominations. Along with Top Billboard 200 Album, she received honors including Top Artist and Top Female Artist. The album category’s other nominees included Maroon 5’s V, Pentatonix’s That’s Christmas to Me and Ed Sheeran’s x.

A common mix-up is confusing Top Billboard 200 Album with Top Billboard 200 Artist. Swift won both categories that year, but the album award specifically went to 1989, not simply to her as a performer.
