Where was the first Billboard MusicCon held in 2022?

The first Billboard MusicCon was held at Area15 in Las Vegas in 2022. The two-day event took place on May 13 and 14, immediately before the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.

MusicCon was designed as a companion event bringing artists, executives, speakers, performers, and fans together for panels and live programming. Its discussions covered topics including changes in music across genres and cultures, women in music, artist careers, and the wider business surrounding popular music. Smirnoff sponsored the inaugural edition.

Area15 is an immersive entertainment complex in Las Vegas, not one of the large casino arenas commonly associated with the BBMAs. The awards ceremony itself was held on May 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, which explains the frequent mix-up between the two locations. The Colosseum, T-Mobile Arena, and MGM Grand Garden Arena were not the site of the first MusicCon. Among the event’s participants were Anitta, Burna Boy, Rauw Alejandro, and industry managers connected to major artists.
