Who was the lead singer of Pearl Jam when the band released Ten in 1991?
Answer
Eddie Vedder
Answer
Eddie Vedder
Eddie Vedder was Pearl Jam’s lead singer when the band released Ten in 1991.
Vedder joined the Seattle-area group after receiving a demo from guitarist Stone Gossard. He wrote lyrics and melodies for several songs, including “Alive,” “Once,” and “Black,” helping define Pearl Jam’s emotionally direct style. Ten became one of the key albums of the early-1990s grunge movement.
Pearl Jam’s original name was Mookie Blaylock, taken from the basketball player, and Ten was released under the new name. Vedder is sometimes confused with other major Seattle vocalists, especially Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Layne Staley of Alice in Chains. Those singers belonged to different bands, although all three were central figures in the era’s rock scene.
