What was the name of Nirvana’s 1994 acoustic live album recorded for MTV?

Nirvana’s 1994 acoustic live album recorded for MTV was titled MTV Unplugged in New York.

The album documents Nirvana’s performance for the television series MTV Unplugged, recorded at Sony Music Studios in New York City on November 18, 1993. DGC Records released it in November 1994, several months after Kurt Cobain’s death.

Rather than presenting only the band’s biggest hits, the set included lesser-known songs and covers by David Bowie, the Vaselines, and Lead Belly. The stripped-down arrangements highlighted the group’s melodies and Cobain’s vocals in a setting very different from Nirvana’s louder concerts.

The album won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance in 1996. Its title is often shortened informally to “Unplugged,” but the official album title is MTV Unplugged in New York.
