Which band released the 1992 album Core, its debut studio album?

The story behind the answer

Stone Temple Pilots released Core in 1992 as their debut studio album. Atlantic Records issued it on September 29, 1992, during the commercial peak of the grunge movement.

Core produced several well-known singles, including “Sex Type Thing,” “Plush,” and “Creep.” “Plush” became especially successful and helped establish vocalist Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, and drummer Eric Kretz as major figures in 1990s alternative rock.

Core is sometimes grouped with Seattle grunge releases because of its sound and timing, but Stone Temple Pilots formed in San Diego, California. The band was therefore not a Seattle group, despite often being discussed alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains.
