Who is the main playable Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia?

Ditto is the main playable Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia.

In the game, Ditto uses its transformation ability to imitate a human. This unusual premise lets the player experience the world through a Pokémon protagonist while still performing activities associated with a life-simulation game, such as building, crafting, gardening, and helping other Pokémon.

Ditto is a particularly fitting choice because its defining franchise trait is transformation. Rather than simply appearing as a companion or non-player character, Ditto’s ability provides the story’s explanation for the human-shaped player avatar and supports the game’s identity.

Pokopia’s Ditto should not be confused with Pikachu or another mascot Pokémon. Pikachu appears in the broader Pokémon world and promotional material, but the central playable character is Ditto. The game’s premise revolves around Ditto’s efforts to restore a damaged environment and create a place where Pokémon can live together.
