What is the name of the lone resident found in Pokémon Pokopia’s wasteland?

Professor Tangrowth is the lone resident found in Pokémon Pokopia’s wasteland.

Professor Tangrowth is a Tangrowth who lives alone after humans and most Pokémon have left the damaged world. The character studies the environment and tries to understand why the land became uninhabitable.

After Ditto awakens and takes human form, it meets Professor Tangrowth and becomes involved in the effort to restore habitats. This meeting establishes the game’s central mystery and gives Ditto a guide for exploring the abandoned region.

Professor Tangrowth should not be confused with Pokopia’s other named characters. Peakychu is a Pikachu who has lost its ability to generate electricity, Smearguru is an unusually gifted Smeargle, and Mosslax is a plant-covered Snorlax. Those characters appear later as part of the wider restoration story, while Professor Tangrowth is the isolated scholar encountered near the beginning.
