Who designed the character art for Among Us?

The story behind the answer

Amy Liu designed the character art for Among Us. She was one of the three central developers at Innersloth, working alongside programmer Forest Willard and game designer and artist Marcus Bromander.

Liu's work helped establish the game's instantly recognizable visual identity: small, colorful astronauts with simple rounded bodies, reflective visors, and minimal facial detail. That deliberately uncomplicated style made the characters readable at a glance, even when several players were moving around a crowded map.

The art direction supported the game's social-deduction design. Because players must watch one another for suspicious behavior, the characters needed to be visually distinct without distracting from movement, tasks, meetings, or environmental clues. Liu also contributed to the broader art and animation work that shaped the game's cosmetics and presentation.

A common mix-up is crediting Marcus Bromander alone because he was Innersloth's game designer and also created much of the game's art. The character art was a collaborative part of the studio's work, but Amy Liu is specifically credited for major character-art contributions.
