What was the name of the canceled sequel to Among Us?

The canceled sequel to Among Us was called Among Us 2.

In August 2020, InnerSloth announced that it was shifting development toward Among Us 2. The plan reflected the original game’s explosive growth: Among Us had suddenly become a global multiplayer hit, and the team believed a new game could provide a stronger foundation for expanded features and a larger player base.

That sequel was canceled only a month later, on September 23, 2020. InnerSloth decided instead to rework the original game’s code, which it described as outdated and poorly suited to supporting the amount of new content players wanted. This allowed the developers to preserve the existing community, accounts, purchases, and cross-platform experience while improving the live game.

The proposed sequel is sometimes discussed alongside the retronym “Among Us 1,” a label used to distinguish the original game after Among Us 2 was announced. However, “Among Us 2” is the canonical name of the canceled project. Crewmates, Impostors 2, and Among Us Again were not official sequel titles.
