Which waterfall on the Vietnam–China border is known as Ban Gioc–Detian Falls?
Answer
Ban Gioc–Detian Falls
Answer
Ban Gioc–Detian Falls
Ban Gioc–Detian Falls is the waterfall on the Vietnam–China border known as Ban Gioc–Detian Falls.
The waterfall lies on the Quây Sơn River, called the Guichun River in China. The cascades cross an international boundary, making this one of Asia’s best-known transboundary waterfalls. The Vietnamese name is Bản Giốc, while Detian is the Chinese name.
The falls are divided into several channels and drop over a broad limestone area rather than forming one narrow plunge. Their appearance changes with rainfall and river flow, so photographs can show noticeably different widths and volumes.
Ban Gioc–Detian is sometimes confused with Kuang Si Falls in Laos, another famous Southeast Asian limestone waterfall. Kuang Si is entirely within Laos, whereas Ban Gioc–Detian is associated with two countries.
