Pliva Waterfall is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s waterfall where the Pliva River meets the Vrbas in Jajce.
The waterfall is in the historic town of Jajce, in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. Unlike many famous waterfalls located in remote valleys, Pliva Waterfall stands in an urban setting near the old town. The Pliva River descends over a limestone ledge before joining the Vrbas.
The fall is generally described as about 22 metres high. Its flow can vary considerably, especially after heavy rain or changes in upstream water use, so photographs may show different volumes.
Pliva Waterfall is not Kravica Waterfall, which is farther south in Herzegovina and forms a broad semicircular cascade on the Trebižat River. Jajce’s location and the Pliva–Vrbas confluence identify this waterfall precisely.
