Sipi Falls is the Ugandan waterfall system on Mount Elgon that includes three cascades, with the highest falling about 100 metres.
Sipi Falls is in eastern Uganda near the Kenyan border, on the lower slopes of Mount Elgon. The name refers to a group of three waterfalls rather than one isolated drop. The highest cascade is usually described as about 100 metres high, with two smaller falls nearby.
The water comes from the Sipi River, which descends over cliffs formed in the volcanic highland landscape. The area is known for hiking, coffee-growing communities, and views across the surrounding plains.
Sipi Falls is distinct from Murchison Falls, where the Nile is forced through a narrow gorge. Sipi is a Mount Elgon waterfall group, while Murchison is a powerful Nile cataract in northwestern Uganda.
