Dudhsagar Falls is the Indian waterfall formed by the Mandovi River in Goa and Karnataka.
Its name means “sea of milk” in several local languages, referring to the white appearance of water descending over the dark rock face. The waterfall lies in the Western Ghats within the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park. It is especially dramatic during the monsoon, when the Mandovi carries much more water.
A railway line passes close to the falls, making Dudhsagar a familiar sight from trains traveling between Goa and Karnataka. Access rules for walking routes, jeeps, and railway areas can vary, so visitors must follow local regulations.
Dudhsagar is often described as one of India’s tallest waterfalls, but rankings depend on whether total height, individual drop, or seasonal flow is being compared. Its name and location are more definitive than changing superlative claims.
