NetDevil developed the massively multiplayer online game Lego Universe.
Lego Universe was an online multiplayer world developed by NetDevil and published by The Lego Group. It officially launched on 26 October 2010 after an early opening for Lego “Founders” who had pre-ordered the game. Players explored a shared Lego-themed universe, created characters, battled enemies, completed missions, and interacted with other players.
The project was not a Traveller’s Tales production, despite that studio’s association with many famous Lego console games. NetDevil specialized in massively multiplayer online games, making it the fitting developer for Lego Universe’s persistent shared-world design. TransGaming Technologies handled the OS X port.
The game remained available for roughly fifteen months. Its servers permanently shut down on 31 January 2012 after revenue failed to meet expectations. That closure is why Lego Universe is often remembered as an ambitious but short-lived online experiment rather than a continuing Lego platform.
