Harmonix partnered with TT Fusion on Lego Rock Band.
Lego Rock Band was announced in 2009 as a family-friendly combination of the Rock Band music-game format and Lego's character-driven presentation. TT Fusion handled the main development, while Harmonix brought expertise from the established Rock Band series.
The collaboration explains why the game uses instrument controllers for lead guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, with support for up to four players. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published the title, while MTV Games was also involved in the Rock Band side of the project.
The other choices are associated with different parts of music-game history. RedOctane made Guitar Hero hardware, Vicarious Visions developed various music titles, and Neversoft worked on Guitar Hero projects; none is the partner credited here. Lego Rock Band launched for major consoles in November 2009, with a separate Nintendo DS version.
