Answer
Real-time strategy
The 2009 Nintendo DS game Lego Battles is a real-time strategy game.
Developed by Hellbent Games and co-published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games Publishing, Lego Battles adapts strategy-game ideas to Nintendo's handheld system. Players command Lego-themed forces, manage units, and complete missions through several campaign stories.
The game includes three different storylines, each offering campaigns for both protagonists and antagonists. Its missions are organized into quests and acts, giving it a structure much closer to a compact strategy campaign than to a platformer, puzzle game, rhythm title, or racing game.
Lego Battles is sometimes confused with action-adventure Lego games because it uses familiar characters and settings. Its defining feature, however, is strategic command: the player directs forces and objectives rather than mainly controlling a single hero through platforming stages. It was released for Nintendo DS in June 2009.
