Which song won the Billboard Music Award for Top Hot 100 Song in 2021?

“Blinding Lights” won the Billboard Music Award for Top Hot 100 Song in 2021. The Weeknd’s song topped a field that also included 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” Gabby Barrett’s “I Hope,” Chris Brown and Young Thug’s “Go Crazy,” and DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s “Rockstar.”

The award is based on performance on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, which combines streaming, radio airplay, and sales data. “Blinding Lights” was one of the defining songs of the period, spending weeks near the top of the chart and becoming particularly notable for its longevity.

A common mix-up is confusing this award with Billboard’s year-end Hot 100 ranking. Those are related but different measures: the award recognizes the song’s performance during the eligibility period for that ceremony, while the year-end chart ranks the calendar year as a whole. The song also helped make The Weeknd one of the ceremony’s leading artists.
