Which Seattle band released the 1991 grunge album Ten?

The story behind the answer

Pearl Jam released the 1991 grunge album Ten. It was the band’s debut studio album and came out on August 27, 1991, through Epic Records. The record featured vocalist Eddie Vedder, guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, bassist Jeff Ament, and drummer Dave Krusen during the album’s recording.

Ten initially sold gradually, but its popularity expanded as alternative rock entered the mainstream. Songs including “Alive,” “Even Flow,” and “Jeremy” became major rock-radio and music-video successes. The album eventually received diamond certification in the United States and is regarded as one of the central recordings of the Seattle grunge movement.

Listeners sometimes confuse Ten with Soundgarden’s Badmotorfinger or Alice in Chains’ Dirt, both major early-1990s Seattle-area releases. Pearl Jam’s name also arose after the group changed from its original name, Mookie Blaylock, named after the basketball player. Ten’s title refers to the number associated with that earlier name.
