Which Russian bridge in Vladivostok has the world’s longest cable-stayed main span?
Answer
Russky Bridge
Answer
Russky Bridge
Russky Bridge in Vladivostok has the world’s longest cable-stayed main span, measuring 1,104 metres.
The bridge connects the Russian mainland with Russky Island across the Eastern Bosphorus Strait. It was built for the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit hosted in Vladivostok and opened to traffic in July 2012.
Its two towers rise about 320.9 metres, making them among the tallest bridge pylons in the world. The bridge uses a distinctive fan arrangement of stay cables, which support the deck from the two massive pylons.
Russky Bridge’s record concerns its main span, not its total length. Cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges use different structural systems, so their span records are normally compared within their own categories.
