Which producer recorded Soundgarden’s album Superunknown?
Answer
Michael Beinhorn
Answer
Michael Beinhorn
Michael Beinhorn produced Soundgarden’s album Superunknown.
Released in 1994, Superunknown became Soundgarden’s most commercially successful studio album. Beinhorn’s production helped preserve the band’s heavy guitar sound while giving its complex arrangements a clear, powerful presentation.
The album produced major songs including “Black Hole Sun,” “Spoonman,” and “Fell on Black Days.” “Black Hole Sun” became especially prominent through its surreal music video and radio exposure, while “Spoonman” earned a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Superunknown followed Badmotorfinger and arrived at the height of grunge’s mainstream visibility. It is sometimes mistakenly attributed to producers associated with other Seattle records, especially Brendan O’Brien, who worked extensively with Pearl Jam. Beinhorn’s credits also include work with artists outside grunge, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Marilyn Manson.
