The main playable character in Pokémon Pokopia is a Ditto.
Ditto is famous in the Pokémon series for its Transform ability, which lets it copy the appearance of another Pokémon. Pokopia builds its central character around that established trait: the Ditto transforms into a human-like form so it can construct, gather resources, and interact with the world.
The story begins after Ditto awakens in a damaged environment where humans are absent and Pokémon habitats have become difficult to live in. It finds an old Pokédex connected to its former trainer and begins helping Pokémon restore the surrounding land.
This premise gives Pokopia a different perspective from most Pokémon games. Instead of controlling a human trainer who captures Pokémon for battles, players guide a Pokémon whose identity and abilities directly shape the building and exploration gameplay.
