Which Nirvana song was inspired by the Beatles and appeared on the album Bleach?
Answer
About a Girl
Answer
About a Girl
Nirvana’s song “About a Girl” was inspired by the Beatles and appeared on Bleach.
Kurt Cobain wrote the song after listening repeatedly to the Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road. Its direct melody and pop structure stood apart from much of Bleach, Nirvana’s heavier 1989 debut album. The song was reportedly written about Cobain’s relationship with Tracy Marander.
“About a Girl” later became one of Nirvana’s most recognizable early songs. A live acoustic version performed for MTV Unplugged in 1993 introduced it to an even larger audience, and that performance appeared on the posthumous album MTV Unplugged in New York.
Listeners sometimes associate the song only with the Unplugged version, but it originally appeared as the opening track on Bleach. “Lithium,” “Polly” and “On a Plain” belong to later Nirvana releases.
