Which Nirvana song opened the album Nevermind?
Answer
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Answer
Smells Like Teen Spirit
“Smells Like Teen Spirit” opens Nirvana’s album Nevermind.
The song is the first track on the 1991 album and became Nirvana’s best-known single. Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl wrote the music, while Cobain wrote the lyrics. Butch Vig produced the recording.
Its quiet-loud arrangement, distorted guitar riff, and anthemic chorus helped make the song a landmark of alternative rock. The title came from a remark made by Kathleen Hanna, who wrote “Kurt smells like Teen Spirit” on Cobain’s wall. Cobain initially did not understand that Teen Spirit referred to a deodorant brand.
The song’s video, directed by Samuel Bayer, received heavy MTV exposure. Although it was not Nirvana’s first single, it became the breakthrough that pushed Nevermind into the mainstream. “Come as You Are,” “Lithium,” and “In Bloom” are also Nevermind tracks, but none opens the album.
