Smearguru is the unusually talented painter in Pokémon Pokopia.
Smearguru is a special Smeargle encountered as Ditto restores habitats. The character is described as exceptionally talented at painting, making artistic ability the defining trait of this named Pokémon.
Smeargle is a natural fit for this role because the species is associated with painting in the wider Pokémon series. Its tail secretes a coloured fluid that Smeargle uses like paint, and its signature move, Sketch, is connected to copying other Pokémon’s moves.
Smearguru is not the ordinary species name and should not be answered simply with “Smeargle” when the question asks for the named character. The game uses several playful names for special Pokémon, giving familiar species individual identities and stories.
