Which mountain range is home to Mount Logan, Canada’s highest mountain?
Answer
Saint Elias Mountains
Answer
Saint Elias Mountains
The Saint Elias Mountains are home to Mount Logan, Canada’s highest mountain at 5,959 metres.
Mount Logan stands in Yukon, near the Alaskan border, within Kluane National Park and Reserve. It is the second-highest mountain in North America after Denali and has one of the largest base circumferences of any non-volcanic mountain. The massif has multiple summits and extensive glaciers.
The Saint Elias Mountains extend across southeastern Alaska, southwestern Yukon, and northwestern British Columbia. Their location near the Gulf of Alaska produces heavy snowfall, which feeds vast icefields and glaciers. Mount Logan was named in 1890 for Sir William Edmond Logan, founder of the Geological Survey of Canada. The first successful ascent took place in 1925.
