Which mountain range includes Mount Rainier, Washington's highest peak?

The story behind the answer

The Cascade Range includes Mount Rainier, Washington's highest peak.

The Cascades extend from northern California through Oregon and Washington into British Columbia. They are famous for their volcanic peaks, many of which belong to the Cascade Volcanic Arc, created by the subduction of the Juan de Fuca Plate beneath the North American Plate.

Mount Rainier rises to 4,392 metres and is the tallest mountain in Washington. It is an active stratovolcano and the centerpiece of Mount Rainier National Park. Its summit is heavily glaciated, making it visually prominent and scientifically important.

The Cascade Range includes other major volcanoes such as Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Hood, and Mount Shasta. Mount St. Helens became globally known after its major eruption on 18 May 1980, while Mount Rainier is closely monitored because of its volcanic hazards and large glaciers.
