Which Lego game allows players to build in a procedurally generated world?

The story behind the answer

Lego Worlds is the Lego game that allows players to build in a procedurally generated world.

Developed by Traveller's Tales, Lego Worlds is a sandbox game built around exploration, discovery, and construction. Instead of taking place in a fixed sequence of movie-based levels, it creates 3D worlds from generated landscapes and environments. Players can explore these spaces, collect discoveries, reshape terrain, and construct buildings and other creations from Lego pieces.

The game first appeared as a Steam Early Access beta on June 1, 2015. Its full release followed on March 7, 2017, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version arriving later that year. This release history is one reason the game is sometimes confused with other Lego titles that include building mechanics.

Lego Builder's Journey is primarily a puzzle game with carefully designed diorama-like scenes, while Lego Universe was an online multiplayer role-playing game. “Lego Minecraft” is not the official title of a Lego video game. Lego Worlds is the canonical answer because its defining feature is its open, procedurally generated building environment.
