Hong Kong’s Tsing Ma Bridge opened in 1997 and carries both road traffic and railway lines across the Ma Wan Channel.
The suspension bridge links Tsing Yi and Ma Wan as part of the route toward Hong Kong International Airport on Lantau Island. Its two-level deck carries six road lanes above and two railway tracks below, allowing airport trains and vehicles to use the same crossing.
The bridge’s main span measures 1,377 metres. It was once the world’s longest road-and-rail suspension bridge, although later projects surpassed it in individual categories. Tsing Ma is part of the Lantau Link, whose associated crossings and roads form a larger transport system than the bridge alone.
