Which game is the second installment in the Batman: Arkham series?
Answer
Batman: Arkham City
Answer
Batman: Arkham City
Batman: Arkham City is the second installment in the Batman: Arkham series. Released in 2011, it follows Batman: Arkham Asylum and expands the formula from a contained island facility into a large, walled-off section of Gotham City used as a super-prison.
The story begins after Bruce Wayne is imprisoned inside Arkham City by Hugo Strange. Batman must investigate the prison’s secret Protocol 10 while dealing with inmates and adversaries including the Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, and Ra’s al Ghul. The game also introduces Catwoman as a playable character through a parallel campaign.
Arkham Origins can cause confusion because it was released after Arkham City, but it is a prequel set years before Arkham Asylum. Arkham Knight is the direct sequel to Arkham City, while Arkham VR is a spin-off rather than the series’ second main installment. Release order and story chronology therefore do not perfectly match.
