Who is credited as director of Batman: Arkham Asylum?

The story behind the answer

Sefton Hill is credited as the director of Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Hill was a co-founder of Rocksteady Studios and helped guide the 2009 game from its tightly focused setting to its distinctive blend of exploration, stealth, combat, and detective work. The game was developed by Rocksteady and published by Eidos Interactive, with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment involved in distribution and licensing.

A common mix-up is confusing the director with the game’s prominent writer. Paul Dini wrote the story, drawing on his experience with Batman: The Animated Series and DC Comics, while Hill’s role was part of the development leadership credited for the finished game. Mark Pacini and Eric Holmes are associated with other game projects, not the director credit for Arkham Asylum.

Hill later directed Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight, extending the series from the confined asylum into a much larger open-world version of Gotham City.
