Which game is the direct sequel to Batman: Arkham City?
Answer
Batman: Arkham Knight
Answer
Batman: Arkham Knight
Batman: Arkham Knight is the direct sequel to Batman: Arkham City. Developed by Rocksteady Studios and released in 2015, it continues the main Arkham storyline after the events of the 2011 game.
Arkham Knight begins roughly nine months after Arkham City. Gotham has been evacuated because Scarecrow threatens the city, and Batman must confront a coalition of villains led by Scarecrow and the mysterious Arkham Knight. The game expands the series into a much larger version of Gotham and introduces the Batmobile as a major gameplay feature.
The chronology can cause confusion because Batman: Arkham Origins was released before Arkham Knight but is a prequel set earlier in Batman’s career. Arkham VR is also part of the broader franchise, but it is a separate virtual-reality experience rather than the direct continuation of Arkham City. Arkham Knight is the fourth main installment and the concluding chapter of Rocksteady’s central trilogy.
