Which company co-published Arkham Asylum with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment?

The story behind the answer

Eidos Interactive co-published Batman: Arkham Asylum with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was released in 2009 and developed by the British studio Rocksteady Studios. Eidos Interactive had obtained the rights to make a Batman game in 2007, approached Rocksteady after seeing its prototype, and worked with Warner Bros. during the game’s development and release. The publishing arrangement connected Eidos’s game-industry experience with Warner Bros.’ DC and Batman properties.

The game’s credited publishers are commonly described as Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, or as Eidos publishing the game in conjunction with Warner Bros. Warner Bros. later became the dominant publisher for the Arkham franchise as the series expanded with Arkham City, Arkham Origins, and Arkham Knight.

Players sometimes confuse Eidos with Rocksteady because both names are closely associated with the game’s origin. Rocksteady was the developer, not the co-publisher. Another mix-up comes from later releases: Virtuos handled ports and remaster work for some versions, but that did not change Arkham Asylum’s original publishing credits.
