Which bridge in Kolkata was renamed in 1965 to honor the poet Rabindranath Tagore?

The story behind the answer

Rabindra Setu is the bridge in Kolkata renamed in 1965 to honor poet Rabindranath Tagore.

The bridge is commonly known as Howrah Bridge and crosses the Hooghly River between Kolkata and Howrah. The present structure opened to traffic in 1943 and is a balanced cantilever bridge, meaning it was built without piers in the river's main channel.

Its official renaming recognized Tagore, the first Asian Nobel laureate in literature. Despite the official name Rabindra Setu, many residents and visitors continue to use Howrah Bridge, the historic name associated with the crossing and the Howrah railway terminus.

It is often confused with Vidyasagar Setu, a later cable-stayed bridge farther south. The two crossings serve different parts of the Hooghly waterfront.
