Which bridge connects Manhattan to New Jersey and has two decks for road traffic?

The story behind the answer

The George Washington Bridge connects Manhattan with New Jersey and has two decks for road traffic.

The bridge crosses the Hudson River between Washington Heights in Manhattan and Fort Lee, New Jersey. It opened in 1931 with a single upper deck; the lower deck, known as the Martha Washington Bridge, was added in 1962.

Designed by Othmar Ammann, the bridge was notable for its enormous single suspension span. Its 1,100-metre main span was the world’s longest when it opened, surpassing the record held by the Ambassador Bridge. It remains a major road link and also carries pedestrian and bicycle paths.
