Which Batman: Arkham game stars a younger Batman hunted by police?

The story behind the answer

Batman: Arkham Origins stars a younger Batman hunted by police. Set several years before Batman: Arkham Asylum, the game follows Bruce Wayne during an early stage of his vigilante career, when Gotham’s police generally regard Batman as an outlaw rather than an ally.

The story begins on Christmas Eve after Black Mask places a $50 million bounty on Batman. Eight assassins, including Killer Croc, Deathstroke, Bane, Deadshot, Copperhead, Firefly, Electrocutioner, and Shiva, converge on Gotham. Batman’s investigation also becomes his first major confrontation with the Joker in this continuity.

A common mix-up is confusing Origins with Arkham City, where Batman is older and imprisoned inside Gotham’s super-prison. Arkham Origins was developed by WB Games Montréal rather than Rocksteady Studios and serves as a prequel to the earlier games. Its police conflict is central to Batman’s relationship with Captain James Gordon, who initially distrusts him before recognizing his value to Gotham.
