Answer
Screaming Trees
Answer
Screaming Trees
Screaming Trees recorded the grunge song “Nearly Lost You,” featured in the film Singles. The song appeared on the band’s 1992 album Sweet Oblivion and became their best-known single.
“Nearly Lost You” was written by vocalist Mark Lanegan and guitarist Gary Lee Conner. Its prominent appearance on the Singles soundtrack helped introduce the band to a much wider audience during grunge’s early-1990s commercial peak.
The single was released in 1992 and became a major alternative-rock success in the United States. Its music video used footage from Singles, a 1992 romantic comedy set in Seattle’s music scene, although the film’s fictional band Citizen Dick was played by members of Pearl Jam.
Screaming Trees formed in Ellensburg, Washington, in 1985. Although often grouped with Seattle grunge, the band developed a sound combining psychedelic rock, hard rock, and alternative music. “Nearly Lost You” is sometimes confused with songs by Seattle peers such as Mudhoney or Alice in Chains, but its distinctive vocal is Lanegan’s.
