Which artist won Top Country Artist at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards?

Morgan Wallen won Top Country Artist at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. The award reflected his exceptional performance across Billboard’s country-related charts during the eligibility period for that ceremony.

Wallen’s victory was part of a dominant night. His album One Thing at a Time was the year’s Top Country Album winner, and he also received Top Country Male Artist. The album’s success, together with the reach of songs such as “Last Night,” helped make him one of the ceremony’s leading winners overall.

The category is easy to mix up with Top Country Male Artist, which Wallen also won. Top Country Artist is the broader field: its nominees included male and female performers, while the male-artist category specifically compared male country acts. The ceremony also separated country awards for albums, touring, and duo or group performance.

The 2023 ceremony was unusual in format: instead of a conventional televised venue-based show, winners and performances were released digitally through Billboard’s platforms. The awards still used Billboard chart data and the same category structure to measure the preceding period’s popularity.
