Which actor voiced the Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum?

The story behind the answer

Mark Hamill voiced the Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Hamill’s performance continued the role he began in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. In Arkham Asylum, his Joker is the game’s central antagonist, manipulating events on Arkham Island and using the Titan formula to create enhanced henchmen. The performance combines the character’s theatrical humor with a sharper, more dangerous edge suited to the game’s darker setting.

Kevin Conroy, another veteran of the animated series, voiced Batman, which helped give Arkham Asylum a familiar sound for longtime DC fans. That pairing is a common source of confusion: Conroy played Batman, while Hamill played the Joker. Troy Baker later voiced a younger version of the Joker in the prequel Batman: Arkham Origins, but not in Arkham Asylum.

Rocksteady Studios developed Arkham Asylum, which was released in 2009. Hamill reprised the Joker in Batman: Arkham City and later returned for Batman: Arkham Knight, making the role a defining part of the original Arkham trilogy.
