After leaving AFC Richmond, Ted returns to his hometown area in Missouri and continues co-parenting his son Henry with Michelle. The premiere shows that his life there is unsettled, even though he is physically close to his family.

Rebecca, Keeley, and Higgins travel to Kansas City to offer Ted the head-coaching job for Richmond's women's team. Their visit starts the story that eventually brings Ted back to England and Nelson Road.
