What year was Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 released?

The story behind the answer

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 was released in 2017. Its main versions launched on November 14, 2017, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.

The game is an action-adventure sequel to Lego Marvel Super Heroes and follows Marvel heroes battling Kang the Conqueror. Its central setting is Chronopolis, a city assembled from locations drawn across different periods and realities of the Marvel Universe.

The game expanded the usual Lego formula with time-manipulation mechanics and a four-player competitive Super Hero battle mode. Players can also switch between different versions of characters, such as Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Man 2099, and Baby Groot.

One source of confusion is the macOS release, which arrived later on August 2, 2018. That date applies only to the Mac version; it does not change the game’s original release year. The title is also distinct from Lego Marvel’s Avengers, which was released in 2016.
