What word does Among Us use for a player removed by vote?

The story behind the answer

Among Us calls a player removed by vote “ejected.”

During an emergency meeting, players discuss suspicious behavior and vote on whom they believe is an Impostor. If one player receives the required plurality, that player is ejected from the game. The result may reveal whether the ejected player was an Impostor, depending on the lobby’s confirmation settings.

Ejection is different from being killed. An Impostor kills a Crewmate during normal gameplay, while ejection happens through the meeting-and-voting system. In either case, the removed player becomes a ghost and can continue certain activities without interacting with living players. Crewmate ghosts can complete tasks, while Impostor ghosts can continue sabotaging. Players can also skip the vote, meaning nobody is ejected. The wording can confuse newcomers because older discussions often say “voted out,” but the game’s own terminology uses “ejected,” including the familiar end-of-round message announcing that a player was or was not an Impostor.
