Answer
Meet the Feebles
Meet the Feebles was the title of Peter Jackson’s 1989 puppet satire film.
Jackson directed and co-wrote Meet the Feebles, a dark comedy centered on a dysfunctional variety-show troupe performed with puppets. The film followed his debut feature Bad Taste, which had been released in 1987, and arrived before his later breakthrough with Heavenly Creatures.
Although its characters resemble cheerful television puppets, the film uses adult satire and deliberately grotesque humor. Its plot focuses on backstage rivalries, scandals, ambition, and exploitation within the fictional Feebles troupe. That contrast between cute visual designs and extreme subject matter became one of the film’s defining features.
Meet the Feebles is sometimes confused with Jackson’s other early cult films. Bad Taste is the 1987 alien comedy, while Braindead—released as Dead Alive in North America—is the 1992 splatstick horror film. Forgotten Silver is a 1995 mockumentary made with Costa Botes.
