Alice in Chains’ 1992 acoustic EP was titled Sap.
Columbia Records released Sap on February 4, 1992. The EP was recorded largely in an acoustic style and included “Brother,” “Got Me Wrong,” “Right Turn,” and “Am I Inside.” Its title came from a dream experienced by drummer Sean Kinney.
Sap features guest appearances from Ann Wilson of Heart, Mark Arm of Mudhoney, and Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. “Right Turn” credits the performers collectively as Alice Mudgarden, a name combining members of the participating Seattle bands.
Sap is frequently confused with Jar of Flies, another Alice in Chains EP. Jar of Flies arrived in 1994 and became the first EP to debut at number one on the Billboard 200.
