What was the name of Nirvana’s final concert venue?

The story behind the answer

Nirvana played its final concert at Terminal 1 in Munich, Germany.

The concert took place on March 1, 1994, during the European leg of the In Utero tour. Terminal 1 was a large airport hangar at Munich-Riem Airport that had been used for concerts. The performance ended a touring career that had taken Nirvana from small clubs to major international venues.

The show occurred shortly before the band’s planned tour break and Kurt Cobain’s worsening health crisis. Nirvana never performed again after Munich. The band’s public history ended later in 1994 following Cobain’s death in April and the group’s dissolution.

This venue is often confused with other important Nirvana appearances, including the 1992 Reading Festival performance and the 1993 MTV Unplugged taping in New York. Neither was the final concert. Munich is specifically significant because it hosted the group’s last live show as a functioning band.
